whoohoo!!!!

so the three-day leave became four. add two days off in the mix, and i will officially be having SIX DAYS OFF. tomorrow will be my last day at work for the week, and i shall be going back to work thursday. WOW.

(then again, i shouldn't be even talking about work right now... hehehe)

when i mentioned this to my sister teena, she immediately suggested that we go subic-king this weekend. we'll be seeing our cousins and...get ready for this... hitting the beach!

i'm EXCITED, i really am.

i initially bemoaned the fact that we did not have a camera, but hey! i have spare space on my mobile phone for ten photos! yay!

under the sea, under the sea

i have plotted a three-day leave for next week... and i need cheap, enjoyable, and worthwhile vacation-spending ideas!!!  and i emphasize on cheap!

if i had loads of cash right now, i prolly would've gone deep sea diving. *drool* i sorta got inspired by my visual dna result, haha. but i really would like to spend a holiday under the sea. now that i think about it, i've sorta rekindled my love for the ocean; i wanted to be a marine biologist when i was nine ("under the sea" is also playing on repeat in my music player right now). i'd also love to get up-close and personal with my second favorite animal, the manta ray (the first would be ).

and then i'd ask my dad, the original water baby, to go with me diving. my dad, at sixty, still jogs like heck and eats vegetables like i eat junk food.

whee! the thought is already getting me excited.

i better start getting in shape, saving up, and looking for prospective diving spots. para next summer, i can say hi to sebastian, flounder, nemo, marlin, and hopefully my second favorite animal in the world.

there was a baby in the office today

and the initial reaction to things like these is always "huh?!" i don't get to see babies very often; my nephews have grown up, my other nephew is miles away, and my niece lives in a cold climated mountain up north.

the first time "it" passed by i saw a glimpse of pigtails. the Newbie Sitting Next to Me initially thought the woman holding her was carrying a doll, i kid you not. i laughed off the comment and went on dialling.

as we were getting ready to go home, i got to see the baby in question. she was chinita, with very defined eyebrows. the woman was bouncing her up and down. the baby was laughing, and had this huge toothless smile, and was laughing some more.

it was the cutest, most adorable, most adjective-addictive sound i had seen in a long time.

a baby's laughter. wow.

it's one of the sweetest sounds you'll ever hear.

The 10 Most Played Songs on my iTunes

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Music
Genre: Miscellaneous
Artist:Miscellaneous
10. Talking in Your Sleep - The Romantics
The Eighties is, and will always be, one of my favorite decades. As the title implies, it's

a play on sleep-talking, and how secrets are revealed in the process. There's an "oooh!"

factor to the song, but I like its beat more than its meat.

9. Going for Adds - Moving Units
I don't know if you daydream while you walk, but I do--especially if I have earphones

plugged in my ears, hands in jacket pockets. I pretend that I'm a movie starring myself and

I'm looking cool and stuff. If that movie had a soundtrack, this would be playing in the

background during the walk sequence. Haha. Wala lang.

8. Orange-colored Sky - Natalie Cole
I'm not a nut for love songs, but this one fits nicely. I like how the love story is told,

complete with onomatopaeics. Ms. Cole sings like her life is good, how "you" (the Beloved)

suddenly walks by, and life is all better. Sigh.

7. Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Straight Edge - Head Automatica
It's a Friday night, and Sad Party Boy whines that he's got no one to dance with. He

describes each girl who goes his way, and seemingly no one fits his standards. SPB is, in

himself, a boring guy--needing to rely on his drink to give him that buzz. Alas, he fails.

It's another one of my feeling-cool-while-walking songs.

6. Inside & Out - The Bee Gees
Camp + Disco + Kilig = <3. Suddenly I want to layer my hair, Charlie's Angels-style. And

seriously! This guy is a martyr. "I ain't no vision, I'm a man who loves you." That line

killed me.

5. Para Sa Akin - Sitti Navarro
I'm beginning to comtradict myself with the love song bit. Sitti is so lambing-sounding,

it's crazy. Again, it's kilig all over again. I get all wistful and mushy every time I hear

this. See? I can't even be coherent.

4. Creeps Me Out - Ima Robot
We all hear songs about the Martyr risking sanity for the Beloved (a good example of this

would be No Doubt's "Bathwater"). This is a different case--it's the Beloved's POV, and just

how annoyingly callous and jerky he is. It's Eighties-ish, but faster. Again, I prefer the

beat more than the meat.

3. Beating Heart Baby - Head Automatica
It's yet another "What is this Feeling?" song. The Protagonist can't believe he's in

loooove. Pretty fast and fun.

2. In the Hall of the Mountain King - composed by Edvard Grieg
I like classical music, I really do, and this is my favoritest song in the bunch. If

mischief, trouble, and naughtiness would turn into music, this is what I'd hear. The climax

of the song is when everything suddenly goes so loud and crazy. I remember having IƱigo my

nephew listen to it and him telling me that it was played on the Disney Channel once. Astig.

1. Himitsu for DJ - Tokyo Jihen
It's Japanese jazzy-poppy-hip-hop. It is so cool. It has been played so many times on both

music device and computer. It is SO COOL. I'm a gushy fangirl. IT IS SO COOL.

jay (magsy) magbanua's photo blog. a good example of quality vs. quantity. nux :P

fitness first!

no, i am not gym-ming. nor do i have any plans to do so.

while walking around ortigas earlier i realized that i missed walk-jogging. given that i sprained my ankle a few months ago, i obviously was unable to do some good old exercising. i've also realized that i am expanding quite horizontally--sometimes i feel like an overstuffed longganisa whenever i wear certain types of clothing

the last time i had my foot checked, my doctor informed me that it'd take my foot 4-6 months before it heals completely. after counting the months on my left hand i realized that i'll be a-ok in june! which means i can go back to my old exercise routine! yay!

june also spells rain, so hmmm...i better start looking for a covered area where i can jog my heart out. or maybe i can try badminton. or boxing! the possibilities are endless!

i can also start on the fitness thing now...by having tuna for "dinner" again, for starters. yeah, this is all so exciting, i'm shedding pounds just thinking about it! hahaha!

onion

i feel like an onion. layers of me are being peeled away bit by bit, and it hurts.

i don't like onions much, but i'm imagining how they must feel whenever a pesky human being is manipulating them. seriously, you're living your quiet onion existence in the produce section, when boom! next thing you know, you're skinned alive, sliced with a blade, or thrown in boiling oil.

the onion's revenge to its, uh, peeler, is making the latter shed tears. in my case, though, it's not my peeler who's shedding tears. it's me. my revenge is backfiring. my own scent is making me cry.

//edit: being an onion isn't so bad after all.  cos after you're peeled, you're a brand new skinless and juicy you.

gratefulicious 2, and me as a PINK m&m

tonight's service just ended. for some tidbits about it, click here.

==

i did say that the day wasn't over yet, right? so there. more things that i am grateful about today:

- i did prod work at tonight's 5 & 7pm services!!! it's been something i've been making kulit to God about for the loooooooongest time. so there. the very first sunday that i was off from work i crossed paths with kuya dindo, the church's head events coordinator. then he gave me an offer i couldn't refuse!

eventually i was assigned to the 5&7 services at the center. i even flogged myself in dark clothing just to look the part!  looking back i know i'd be nervous about the whole thing, because it's been a while since i did prod work...but i wasn't! i was exciiiiiiiiiiiiiited as all heck! in fact my heart literally *jumped* the moment i wore the ID!

this is gonna be cheesy and all, but words really can't explain everything that was happening in the past few hours. seriously! my fingers are stopping, just trying to think of the next words to use.

- tonight's words of encouragement. i've never liked being vocal about my new discovery in the faith because i was afraid of what other people would say. so i was sort of being mum and vague about the whole thing. then pastor ferdie said that "your testimony is your OWN," that it was as unique as your thumbprint. it got me nodding my head in agreement.

- shempre, new friends! everyone i've met today has been so warm, friendly, and encouraging in every small way. even the people i've known for a while have always been...wonderful. wow! ang redundant!

and, again making gaya joseph:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

gratefulicious

- woke up after thirteen straight hours of sleep, with classical music playing in the background. mind you, i don't have those kinds of sleep hours very often.  cleaning my room wasn't even much of a chore.

- managed to perfect my iced coffee formula. given current temperature conditions, i have adjusted my coffee-drinking a bit...and less water gives the stuff more flavor, and an added kick.

- had my eyes checked for new glasses. it's a annual thing, cos my eyesight is really whacked. anyway, i'm pleased, grateful, and HAPPY to report two things:

1.  hindi malaki yung tinaas ng grado ko! every year my eyesight gets worse. i was expecting more worsening this year, since i was losing a lot of sleep and spending more time in front of a pc. surprisingly, yung grado ng left eye ko ganun pa rin (475), pero sa right, 500 na, from last year's 425.

2. bumaba yung astigmatism ko! my right eye has 200 grado in astigmatism (anong english ng grado?), and my optometrist informed me na bumaba na siya.

ang galing di ba?! grabe!

- i walked in my favorite bookstore and they were playing classical music.

the day is far from over and i'm sure i will be having a lot more things to be grateful about.

then again, this day, this month, this year, this life is so so far from over, and i will still have many many many many more things to be grateiul about.

Thank You, thank you, Thank you.
