WAITING

Waiting

Anonymous

Desperately, helplessly, longing, I cried.

Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.

I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,

The Master gently said, "Child, you must wait!"

"Wait? You say, wait!" my indignant reply.

"Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!

Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?

By FAITH I have asked and am claiming your Word.

"My future and all to which I can relate

Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to WAIT?

I'm needing a 'yes', a go-ahead sign,

Or even a 'no' to which I can resign.

"And, Lord, you promised that if we believe

We need but to ask, and we shall receive.

Lord, I've been asking and this is my cry:

I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!"

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate.

Once again my Master replied, "You must wait."

So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,

And I grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting… for what?"

He seemed then to kneel, and his eyes wept with mine,

And he tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.

I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.

I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

All you seek I could give, and pleased you would be.

You would have what you want –

But you wouldn't know ME.

"You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint.

You'd not know the power that I give to the faint;

You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair;

You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there.

You'd not know the joy of resting in me

When darkness and silence were all you could see.

"You'd never experience that fullness of love

As the peace of my Spirit descends like a dove;

You'd know that I give and I save… (for a start),

But you'd not know the depth of the beat of my heart.

"The glow of my comfort late into the night.

The faith that I give when you walk without sight.

The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked

Of an infinite God, who makes what you have LAST.

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,

What it means that 'My grace is sufficient for thee.'

Yes, your dreams for your loved ones overnight would come true,

But, oh, the loss! If I lost what I'm doing in you!

"So be silent, my child, and in time you will see

THAT THE GREATEST OF GIFTS IS TO GET TO KNOW ME.

And though oft my answers may seem terribly late,

My wisest of answers is still but to WAIT."

my May 28

* woke up with a better voice. thankful for recovering from laryngitis, due to screaming, shouting, hollering, and yelling at campus harvest. :)

* was not late for work! ran all the way from edsa to my building to "make iwas" the rain. thankfully i was wearing a black long-sleeved top.. no rain stains for this lady!

* one of my colleagues gave me a handful of lonzenges AND gave me free access to his candy stash! :)

* after not having payments for so long (i work in collections, FYI), i got three payments! and i earned 100 pesos! yehey!

* got to eat a free lunch! chicken and rice and watermelons! yum yum!

* while waiting for a meeting, i bonded with an acquaintance who kept on telling me that yes, i really needed to finish my thesis already. talking with him was an eye-opener. little did i know that that just the start of a lot more eye-opening conversations...

* conversation number two made me realize that the things i thought i were doing right were wrong, wrong, WRONG.

* conversation number three opened my eyes a lot bigger (sobrang laki na, pramis)... and one of the things i discovered, aside from the actual laman of our conversation, is that we really can never go through this life alone. two are sooooooo better than one.

* did one2one after all these conversations. i'm loving it, doing one2one. nakaka adik! gosh i know, i just know, that i will be doing this for the rest of my life!

* in the middle of conversation number one it dawned on me na BIRTHDAY KO NA NEXT WEEK!!! i had been sooooo preoccupied with other things that i totally forgot about it! haha! normally i would be soooo psyched that i'd start counting down a month before. hahaha..this must be a sign of aging. hahahah.

* the ENCM dinner was held at the main auditorium, and we got to say hello to some of the campus ministers, like pastor joe, pastor dan, and pastor LA. hope you can visit us sometime!:)

* we did The Block, our weekly youth service at pioneer, at a different location. i must admit that i prefer it being held at the kid's room, cos it's smaller and more intimate. then again, when we grow and grow and grow... hindi na kami magkakasya sa kid's room!! haha!!

* lots of things were done differently. for one, we had an acoustic praise and worship set. kudos to hazel, nimrod, and the rest of the guys! you rooooocked!

* mark is, by far, the best game show host EVAR. XD

* we all got to hear welmar's very first preaching! :) it's so amazing, bearing witness to God's work in people's lives firsthand! :) you did a good job, welmar! keep it up!! :)

* pat gave me not one but TWO bars of chocolate! and the dinner! :D yay pat! thank you! lapit na birthday! :)

* eca, i really appreciate all the help and the effort in setting up the registration table! you truly have a servant's heart. rock on, sista!

* the lot of us who were left after The Block (and much picture-taking) had dinner at a yummy affordable kainan. we pored over our respective (and our seatmate's) ulams, made higop welmar's saba con hielo, had ice cream at the next-door convenience store, and laughed at anything and everything. :) it's times like these that you really treasure and remember for the rest of your life :) (whew! there goes the mushiness!)

* went home tired, yet busog and very very happy. :)
